City: BudapestAddress: H-1037 Budapest, Nyereg u. 13. Tel.: +36 70 9301 601 The Budapest Wolves organization was founded in April 2004 and has had about a 100 official games so far. Since there were no other Hungarian teams at the time the Wolves participated in the 2nd division of the Austrian Football League where they were runner ups. In 2006 the Wolves moved up to the Austrian Division I and won the first Hungarian Bowl. In 2007 the team made it to the semi-final of the Austrian first division and lost to the Vukovi Beograd in the Central-European Football League (CEFL) bowl game on a missed extra point, finishing the season with a 16-4 record. The reserves team (Wolves 2) reached the semi-finals in the Hungarian championship, while the under-19 Wolves Juniors finished first in both the Hungarian championship and the Austrian junior cup. In the 2008 season the Wolves have won the IV. Hungarian Bowl defeating the Budapest Cowboys 20-14 in a come from behind thriller. The main goal for the organization this season is to win the CEFL bowl game in October. This will be a tough challenge as the road to victory leads through the best teams from Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Austria and Hungary. While the Wolves 1 (first team) competes in the CEFL in the fall, the juniors take on the challenge of two championships at once, competing in both the Hungarian and the Austrian under-19 competition. The Wolves Ladies team that stunned the Vienna Viking Ladies this season, previously undefeated since 2003, will compete again in the Austrian Ladies Cup next year. The Wolves reserves are set to play in the Hungarian division II the upcoming season, and the Wolves 1 will have a title defense campaign in Hungary in 2009 while competing with the top teams in Central Europe in the CEFL tournament. The coaching staff is led by head coach Lee Hlavka, native of Wisconsin and a 30-year veteran of football coaching who has been recognized for his efforts in the field American-Hungarian relations by US Ambassador April H. Foyle. The Wolves, its prominent founders, sports manager Zsolt Dámosy and TV producer Attila Árpa just to name a few, and media their partners are largely responsible for the sudden wide spread popularity of football in Hungary. Our goal as an organization, besides winning every game our teams participate in, is to promote this great game and establish the foundations of this sport for generations to come in Central Europe.
